Who we are

Built by an engineer. Run like it still matters.

Neater Heat was founded in 2011 by Lee Tilbury, an ex-military Royal Engineer, and incorporated as Neater Heat Ltd in 2016 (Companies House no. 10124412). From a base on the Beechnut Industrial Estate in Aldershot, it has grown into a full heating and renewables firm covering Farnham, Fleet, Farnborough, Guildford, Camberley and the wider Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire border.

The work spans the whole spectrum of keeping a home warm. Gas and oil boilers from Vaillant, Worcester Bosch, Baxi and Ideal — supplied, fitted, serviced and repaired around the clock. Central heating, radiators, powerflushing and smart controls. And, increasingly, the low-carbon side: air and ground source heat pumps, solar PV and battery storage, all installed to MCS-accredited standard so grants like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme are on the table.

What holds it together is that every engineer is on Neater Heat's own books and properly registered — Gas Safe, MCS or OFTEC as the job demands. That's why the reviews read the way they do: a next-day boiler swap squeezed into a full diary, a Hive set up around a whole system, an engineer fixing a cold house over the phone for free. Little touches, done by people who'll be back next year.

As the name says, the job is left neat. And as a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, the company keeps faith with the forces community Lee came from. The clearest measure of all of it is the record: 4.9 stars across 535 Google reviews, 300+ Checkatrade reviews, and more than 911 customers looked after.

What stands behind the work

Accreditations, in plain English.

Gas, heating & safety

  • Gas Safe Registered

By law, only a Gas Safe registered engineer may work on your boiler, gas appliances and flues. It is the single most important thing to check before letting anyone near your gas — and every Neater Heat engineer holds it.

  • OFTEC Registered

OFTEC registration covers oil-fired heating, so homes off the mains-gas grid across rural Hampshire and Surrey are looked after to the same competent, certificated standard as gas.

  • APHC & Trading Standards Approved

Membership of the APHC (the Association of Plumbing & Heating Contractors) and Trading Standards Approved status mean an independent body vouches for how we quote, work and treat customers.

Renewables & accountability

  • MCS Accredited

MCS accreditation is what lets us install heat pumps and solar PV to a certified standard — and it's what unlocks the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant of up to £7,500 towards a heat pump. Without it, that grant isn't available.

  • NAPIT, CHAS Elite & SafeContractor

Independent assessments of our electrical competence, health-and-safety and overall contractor standard — the accreditations landlords, developers and commercial clients look for before handing over a site.

  • Armed Forces Covenant signatory

Founded in 2011 by ex-military Royal Engineer Lee Tilbury, Neater Heat is a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant — a public pledge to support the forces community that reflects where the company came from.

What all this means for you

Put simply: whoever turns up is legally allowed to work on your gas or oil, certified to install your heat pump or solar to a grant-eligible standard, and vetted by independent bodies to be on your property. It's the paperwork behind the “professional and open” that the reviews keep mentioning — and it's what lets us stand behind fixed prices and manufacturer warranties.

Worth knowing

The £7,500 grant, and how the switch actually works.

Going low-carbon sounds daunting. It doesn't have to be. Here's the plain version for homeowners on the Surrey–Hampshire border.

The grant

The government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme offers up to £7,500 towards a heat pump. Because we're MCS accredited, we install to the standard it requires and signpost you through it.

The survey

It starts with a free, no-obligation heat pump consultation — a proper site assessment and system sizing, so any advice is based on your home, not a sales target.

The install

An air source heat pump (we fit Vaillant) is typically installed within a few days. Ground source takes longer because of the groundwork involved.

Or pair with solar

Add solar PV and battery storage, sized to your usage, with a smart energy-monitoring app, and you generate and store more of what your heating uses.

What customers say

Every star earned on the job.
